Remote Transponder Key Programming

Jul19

The interface is designed to read and eliminate fault codes, display live data, and allow output tests. Key programming and remote features are also available. The application supports the inspection of a wide range of automotive units and systems, such as the engine, transmission, radio, electronic climate control, engine cooling module,. To program the key's chip (transponder chip) manufacturers normally supply a code card with the vehicle when new. This card contains a unique code which is normally concealed below a scratch strip so only the owner of the vehicle should be able to see it. Main dealers and auto locksmiths will normally require this code so they can. Programming your own remote instead of the dealer charging you $150 is well worth the time. It takes only a few minutes and no tools required. In this article we are discussing programming the remote functions in the remote transponder key. Pairing the immobilizer in the standard or remote key is covered here. B3061 wrong transponder key present. B3060 Unknown transponder key present. The new ecu is showing P1614 immobilizer wrong signal receive not present P1615 P1616wrong vehicle ID from body control and instruments P0330 a/c refrigerant pressure switch not present (car not fitted with a/c and I programmed the ecu to tell it that) P1610 immobilizer.

Programming your own remote instead of the dealer charging you $150 is well worth the time. It takes only a few minutes and no tools required. In this article we are discussing programming the remote functions in the remote transponder key. Pairing the immobilizer in the standard or remote key is covered here.

The following are replacement key part numbers by year. This is for reference as you should use your VIN for the part number ordering from Toyota.

Remote Key incl. Transmitter:
1998.01 – 2002.08 = 89070-60090
2002.08 – 2005.05 = 89070-60750
Transmitter Module for Remote Key:
1998.01 – 2002.08 = 89071-60010
2002.08 – 2003.05 = 89071-60150
2003.05 – 2005.05 = 89071-60200

The system respects up to 5 Master and 3 Valet keys. If the programming sequences don’t work for you there may be too many keys programmed. To determine the key type you have do the following:

Locate and Observe the Security light in the center stack of the dash board. The Security light should be blinking. Now insert your key into the ignition, Do Not Turn!, and simultaneously observe the Security light, 3 results are possible:

  1. Security light continues to blink = The key is not recognized
  2. Security light stays on for 2-3 seconds = Valet key
  3. Security light goes off immediately = Master key

Once the Key has been accepted by the ECU (the security light is off and it starts the Land Cruiser) you are ready to program the remote functions. If the remote key is not recognized then you should start with standard or remote key programming covered here.

Programming Remotes

Program Remote Key: FSM sequence E (1998-2002)

When doing any of these operations timing is critical – use a watch if you have no sense of time. :)

Begin with the key out of the ignition and drivers door open and unlocked (all other doors closed).

  1. Insert remote key into the ignition (Do NOT Turn) and then pull remote key out.

Within 40 seconds ;

  1. Use the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 (five) lock/unlock cycles starting with lock.
  2. Close, then open the drivers door.

Within 40 seconds;

  1. Using the power lock switch on the drivers door, perform 5 (five) lock/unlock cycles starting with lock.
  2. Insert the key in the ignition cylinder. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF
  3. Remove the key from the ignition.

Within 3 seconds the power door locks should cycle automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.

To accept a remote transmitter perform these steps within 40 seconds;

  1. On the remote key, press the Lock and Unlock buttons simultaneously for 1 second.
  2. Immediately after letting go of the Lock and Unlock buttons, press the Lock button and hold for 2 seconds.

Within 3 seconds of completing the steps above the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically. If the door locks do not cycle, your remote has not been accepted. Repeat steps 1 and 2 of remote acceptance procedure above.

Close the drivers door. Test new remote functions.

Program Remote: FSM sequence I – (2003+)
Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked.

  5. Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
  6. Remove the key from the ignition.

Within 3 seconds of completing the steps above the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically. This indicates successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 above if the locks do not cycle.

To accept a remote transmitter perform these steps within 40 seconds.

  1. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
  2. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds.

Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 1 and 2 as the remote was not accepted.

Open the drivers door. Test new remote functions.
